WRAP Workshops – October Schedule

CORD’s Work Readiness and Preparation (WRAP) offers pre-employment skills training to youths with disabilities ages 14 – 21 who are in high school or college. Check out the September schedule below. All workshops will be held at CORD’s office from 3:30 – 4:30.

Tuesday, October 5 – Career Exploration

Identify career interests

Wednesday, October 6 – Staying Safe While Looking for Work & on the Job

Learn how to be safe while using employment sites such as monster.com and indeed.com, when attending networking events and going on interviews. Learn how to be safe while working.

Thursday, October 7 – Workplace Etiquette 101

Learn about appropriate communication skills and techniques; interacting with coworkers, supervisors and customers; workplace behaviors and more. Learn what is expected of you at work and how to get along with others.

Wednesday, October 13 – Targeted Job Shadowing

Explore different jobs and worksite expectations using virtual job shadowing.

Thursday, October 14 – Networking 101

Learn various ways of networking, how to find networking events and why networking is important.

Thursday, October 15 – Dress for Success

How you dress can impact your chances of getting and keeping a job. Learn the basics of appropriate work attire and grooming.

Tuesday, October 19 – Getting a Job

Learn how to create a resume, fill out applications and interviewing techniques.

Wednesday, October 20 – Budgeting 101

Learn basic money management concepts and budgeting. Learn about income vs. expenses, needs vs. wants, gross pay vs. net pay, tracking money, different types of bank accounts and more.

Thursday, October 21 – College Bound: What You Need to Know

Learn about college applications, financial aid, and reasonable accommodations: high school vs. college.

Tuesday, October 26 – ADA & Reasonable Accommodations

Know your rights! Employees with disabilities have rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Learn what employers need to do.

Wednesday, October 27 – What Should Your School be Doing to get you Ready for Work?

Learn how to review your IEP and 504 plans to see if they address your employment goals and what to do if they don’t.

Thursday, October 28 – Do You Have What You Need?

Learn how to assess if you have what you need for jobs you want and what to do if you don’t.
