Group Offers Training for Students With Disabilities

Training | November 14, 2017

The Cape Organization for Rights of the Disabled (CORD) will host its transitional internship program on Martha’s Vineyard for the 2018 school year.

TIP provides job and skills training and paid internships to youths and young adults with disabilities from the ages of 16 to 21 who are enrolled in high school or other post-secondary educational program. In additional to skills training, the program includes supports that may include transportation to and from work sites and job coaches if needed. All TIP wages are paid by CORD.

The program aims to prepare youths and young adults with disabilities, including physical, cognitive, sensory or emotional disabilities, for transition to greater independence in the community.

CORD has been working to advance the independence, productivity and integration of people with disabilities into mainstream society since 1984.

An informational session will be held at the Vineyard Haven Library from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7. (CORD is a scent-free organization, please refrain from wearing any scented products to CORD events.)
