Freddy*, a 75-year-old man with cancer, needed to move. His rent was raised to an amount he could no longer afford. He needed help. CORD’s IL coordinator taught Freddy the steps he needed to take to begin searching for housing and helped him apply for a voucher. Once he received the voucher, Freddy worked with CORD to learn how to find an apartment that he could afford and to navigate moving into a new place. It was a lot of work, but Freddy was able to establish permanent housing for himself.
