INDEPENDENT LIVING (IL) PROGRAM Empowering Independence If you have a disability and don’t need the services of one of our specialized programs, CORD’s IL advocates will work with you, including children of all ages. From housing to benefits, assistive technology, employment, or fighting back against discrimination, we have your back. As in all of CORD’s programs, the IL program believes in your right to determine the course of your life. We believe that people with disabilities have the right to try, the right to succeed, the right to fail and the right to try again.
INDEPENDENT LIVING/VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (IL/VR) PROGRAM Achieve Your GoalsThrough our Independent Living Vocational Rehabilitation (IL/VR) program, the staff works closely with the Hyannis area office of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) to assist people with disabilities who receive services from MRC in achieving their independent living goals. By providing consumers with peer counseling and skills training in areas of financial management, benefits counseling, applying for transportation services, and assistance with housing applications, consumers become more confident, self-sufficient, have more stability in their lives, and are better positioned to achieve their goals of employment and independence.
